Birmingham

We made it to Birmingham on Saturday evening. We settled in pretty quickly (aside from a 30 mile round trip to get some Chinese food I mistakenly ordered from another town!)

On Sunday, we had promised Maddy a day in the swimming pool before her cast comes on.

We did make it to the pool...

...but the weather didn't let us spend too long there.

We still had a nice day. We decided to go to the McWane Center to see if it was a good as we remember. It was. And thank goodness the Hurricane Booth was still there!

Water exhibits are aways very popular with the kids.

And they really enjoyed the aquarium section. There's a big interest in turtles among the two-year-old set in our house. Audrey will often tell you she wants "turtle soup" for dinner, so maybe she doesn't like turtles so much as she just assumes they are very tasty.

Snakes are also fascinating. When Audrey is a teenager, I will never forget to remind her about the time she touched a snake, said "Ewww gross!" and then proceeded to stick her fingers in her mouth. "Ewww gross!"

Aside from a close call with a dinosaur, we had a great time.

Therapy begins tomorrow!
