Cast Day

Today was the big day that we've been planning for years. Maddy's treatment at the Acquire Clinic begins. We took one "before" photo before Maddy and I drove to downtown Birmingham for testing and casting.


It was so nice to see Ms Reggi again. She and Maddy quickly got reacquainted. Maddy did really well on the testing. It was good to know that she'd retained so many of the skills she developed last time she was here.


After the testing, we went back to the apartment and Ms. Reggi came along, bringing all the toys and games she'd play with Maddy.
They only had time for a few quick games and some lunch before the day was over. Right away, it was amazing to see Maddy eating with her right hand.


After naptime, we went to get reaquaninted with our favorite Birmingham park, Veteran's Park. Obviously, the cast doesn't really slow Maddy down that much.


And Audrey is always close behind.


It's going to be a lot of work, but I'm sure it will all be worth it. And I'm sure we'll find a way to have plenty of fun too.
