They spent a lot of time working on strengthening Maddy's thumb. It's amazing to watch Maddy move her thumb. It's such a small movement but it takes so much focus to do it, and with little reward as far as Maddy is concerned. Reggi tries to make it as fun as possible. Today, she drew Minnie Mouse on Maddy's thumb to entice her to pull it up and down.
Pushing these beans across the floor wasn't much fun either, but eventually Maddy found the motivation to do it. I'm always impressed at Reggi's way of making every task into a strengthening activity.

Part of the day, they worked with markers to help prepare Maddy for some of the tasks she'll have to do when she starts school.
Since the beginning, Maddy and Reggi have always finished the day by throwing balls in the bathtub. I was so excited to see how much better Maddy's throwing has gotten since Day 9.
After getting her daily reward (a sticker and a hershey kiss), the cast came off.
And after a bath and a nap, we took two hands to the park.
The next three days are going to be really tough as Reggi has to convince Maddy that her right hand can still do all the things it could when the cast was on. I'm nervous about this next part as Maddy has inherited that lovable Johnson stubbornness which can be hard to contend with.
Here's hoping for the best! (And that with her left hand back, the middle of the night pillow/stuffed animal drama will cease!)
