Camping

This year we decided to admit a hard truth to ourselves: we are not really campers! But I still wanted a quick getaway that would force us to get outdoors, so we rented a little cabin in New Hampshire.

No power. no running water, no cell signal but with a roof and beds...so basically camping-lite!

I thought the cabin was cute and cozy, though Audrey thought it was creepy and dark. I have to say, even though the outhouse is only twenty feet away from the cabin, going in the dark gave me the heebie-jeebies too! We did that as a family!

We took two kayaks all the way up there, only to have trouble finding a place to (safely!) put the kayaks in and it was super windy! So we took a hike to a waterfall instead.

And of course we had s'mores. What is the point of camping, except as an excuse for s'mores?

 I thought it was a fun and relaxing weekend. It remains to be seen if we'll ever do this again, we may not even be "camping lite" people!
