We just wrapped up a great fall soccer season. The girls did SO well last season that that got bumped up four or five levels into a more competitive league, which lead to some unwise promises on the part of Coach Dom...a Winthrop Hurricane tattoo if the girls have a winning season.
Well...it looks like Coach Dom is getting a new tattoo. Not only did the girls have a winning season, they finished first in their league!
They crossed into "winning season" territory a few games ago, but winning the league was the result of a very dramatic last game. The team was down several girls due to a cheerleading competition, plus our goalie (Lily) was sick. So, they borrowed a few younger kids from other teams and were coached to just do their best and have fun. And then at the half, the game was still tied at zero! After the half, they started believeing they could actually win, and so they did. It was so fun to watch! Unfortuately the other team was so upset (as evidenced by the terrible things the parents were yelling from the sidelines) that they wouldn't even shake hands afterwards. Very bad sports!
Awesome job Audrey and Coach Bob!
