I had a sinking feeling, back in April when I signed them up for sailing, that "summer" this year would only feel like "summer" for about three weeks (two weeks of sailing plus our beach vacation). And that's really been the case. It's not that we haven't had fun or found a way to fill the days...but it just hasn't really felt like summer until now. Thank goodness Piers Park was still running this year! They reduced their enrollment, were half day instead of all day and required face masks but it was such a welcome bit of normalcy!
The reduced enrollment was actually awesome for Maddy. There was only one other kid plus the instructor on her boat, so Maddy got to do a lot more sailing. And she finished learning all her Level One skills and moved up to Level Two during these two weeks.
I'd only initially signed Audrey up for one week of Harbor Explorers, but after seeing how happy she was after the first day I asked if there was any space in the next week's session and was so grateful that there was! I don't think she would have been happy being left at home while Maddy finished her two week program now that she new exactly what she'd be missing! She really had an awesome time! She learned a ton, did kayaking and paddle boarding and a little sailing. She's definitely excited to participate in the two-week Sailing program next year. (Fingers crossed in advance that she can take her swim test in a pool next year rather than at the beach since it'll be 50 meters instead of 25 meters!)
They came home EVERY afternoon bubbling over with happiness! Thank you Piers Park Sailing Center!
