Misc July Goings On

Summer is just rolling along. It's hard to imagine, but time does seem to fly, even when your schedule is pretty empty.

Audrey did get to crash her friend Julia's pool to celebrate her birthday. She LOVED her pool time. And also, we were served "Chip-witches" (homemade ice cream sandwiches) and they were SO GOOD that I was inspired to try to make them myself.

One Saturday, Grandpa came up to take a walk in Belle Isle and lunch at the yacht club.

Maddy's been doing a lot of this. Even the cats think she should GET UP ALREADY!

Speaking of the cats, Audrey put them in to her old toy stoller, thinking it would be fun for her/ torture for them...turns out they LOVE the stoller and keep fighting over it! Who knew?

I got the kids a "mystery kit" (which I will never do again...impulse purchase FAIL) which included some disguises. You'll never even be able to tell who this is.

A few weeks ago another mom told  me about from free online "camps" that the local after school program is offering so I signed Audrey up for several. I'm so grateful, I got the tip, Audrey LOVED the camps. She did Kindness Club, Trivia and Art, but her favorite by far was Drama Club. This is her setting up for a skit. She is missing social inteactions SO MUCH, I'm simlataneously grateful for this opportunity, but deeply sad that her world has shrunk so much.

"Family Seperation Time" is still something everyone enoys a lot. Bob is working is way through every James Bond movie. Both kids watch movies in their rooms, and I've really been enjoying teaching myself how to use watercolor paints.

We normally see the Cahoon's for a July 4th weekend pool party, which sadly didn't happen this year. So we improvised and had a nice beach dinner with them.

Then, without even planning it, the Finley's reached out the next day to see if we wanted to meet them at the beach. We did, and decided to make a whole day of it. After they got their fill of swimming, they went home, cleaned up and then came back for some beach take out.

There's still a lot of fun to  be had, even in a pandemic summer.
