Day one, before she developed her sea legs. 😉
For the most part, she had awesome weather, except for the Friday of the first week when it was stormy and very windy! Because of the weather forecast, they had to postpone their island trip, but they still made it out for a couple of quick sails.
I was riveted/ terrified watching them go out that morning, it was SO ROUGH. And they appeared to almost capsize three different times (complete with the shrieks of five 10-12 year old girls!). But when Maddy came home that day, she assured me that her boat can't capsize very easily.
On Monday of the second week, Maddy's instructor thought they were ready to take the oral exam to pass their "green level". Clearly, they must have learned so much after all that sailing in stormy weather!
Maddy was very proud to show off her Green Level band!
They ended up doing their first island trip on Tuesday, when they sailed to Lovell's Island.
They swam off the boat and had a pretty awesome time!
Maddy's last day was Friday and tragically her super-cool softball shades broke right as we were pulling into Piers Park. But she persevered, and decided to wear her mom's lame-o mom shades.
For the last day they had a "boat party" (aka ate lots of chips, donuts and other junk...) and sailed to Spectacle Island.
Apparently, they also did face/body paint so Maddy showed off her Winthrop pride.
Maddy had such an awesome two weeks, frankly I'm super jealous!
