Thanksgiving Weekend, Part 1

We had a great Thanksgiving long weekend. Maddy got out of school early on Wednesday so we spent the afternoon making the first Christmas cookies of the season, gingerbread men! The kids stamped out the cookies...

...and then decorated them with icing. Maddy got a little carried away with the icing consumption.

Audrey was a little more reasonable!

On Thanksgiving morning, we had a nice morning watching the parade (all I had to make was the stuffing), then it was off to Kenny and Tricia's. This year, they really outdid themselves; the turkey was covered with bacon! It looked amazing with it's basket weave.

It was a great day for cooking outside too.

Besides, the bacon covered turkey we also had a deep fried one.

The table looked beautiful, the food was delicious and it was nice to spend time with Grammy and Grandpa.

And the turkey hat put in it's annual appearance.

All that homemade food and all Audrey wanted to eat was the canned cranberry sauce!

The kids amused everyone quoting lines from Young Frankenstein.

It was a great day!
