Audrey's First Dance Recital

We just had a very exciting / hectic weekend with Audrey's first dance recital. I was a little nervous about how it would go because Audrey really hated her costume at first. And I can't say that I blame her. It was itch and ridiculous. The "itchy", I fixed by having her wear a bodysuit beneath it. The "ridiculous" couldn't be helped.

But somehow, seeing it on five adorable four-year-olds made it much more tolerable. On Thursday afternoon the girls had a dress rehearsal. Thus began the recital frenzy that we are still recovering from.

Let's just say, doing hair and makeup on a four-year-old is no one's favorite thing! But it was fun, and so exciting. Plus Audrey got to hang out with her favorite friend, Daniela. Their rehearsal went well  (click here to see a video of her dress rehearsal) and so it was on to their TWO weekend performances!

On Friday night, we brought the whole family.

On Saturday afternoon it was just Audrey and I for the second performance.

Backstage, there were no preshow jitters. I was so proud of how composed Audrey was as she was about to go out in front of five hundred people!

Everyone was really impressed with all the dances, but I have to say the Chiquita Banana act really stole the show. Just took at that precision coordination! (Audrey is the second from the right.)

As soon as she was done, and the pressure was off to stay clean and presentable it was back to regular old bug-loving Audrey. She just planted herself in the flower bed in front of the auditorium to look for snails.

And while we waited for our ride home, we scored some frozen yogurt.

Maddy had fun in the recital frenzy too, and really loved watching the dances. Who knows, next year we may have TWO performers in the recital!
