Road Trip!

We just hit the road for the beginning of our summer adventure. We left the house at 4:30 AM, but somehow the kids managed to stay awake for the first part of the drive. Watching the sun come up is just too much fun.


Audrey brought lots of her friends. Strangely, most of them were named Elmo. (Happy Elmo, Baby Elmo, Funny Elmo...)


We made it to New Jersey before stopping at Burger King for some hand-crafted (read: SLOW!) breakfast sandwiches.


The first day we drove 700 miles so it was really lucky we had an iPad to entertain everyone. ;)


We stopped for the night in Virginia, had dinner at Waffle House (never again!) and hit the super warm pool for a nice swim.

The next morning we had some breakfast at the hotel. I had high hopes for the kids eating a healthy breakfast...until they spied the Fruit Loops. Oh well, it's vacation, right?


The majority of the rest of our drive that day was on the Blue Ridge Parkway which was a good idea before we realized we were driving into a foggy monsoon. So much for the beautiful mountain vistas!


Next stop, Blowing Rock, North Carolina!
