We made it to December 23rd, no one is sick or exposed to COVID so we're off to Kentucky (this is why my brain is exhausted from decision fatigue!)
We had pretty good time (sadly, we didn't make it to Columbus Ohio aka home of the Mellow Mushroom pizza we like) but we did make it quite a ways into Ohio. We're back to feeling wary about indoor dining until we can get through the latest Omicron COVID surge, but luckily the breakfast room didn't feel TOO crowded. Of course at this point in our lives EVERYTHING looks like a Coronavirus.
We got to Grandma's house on Christmas Eve...just in time for dinner and to rile everyone up by frosting cookies right before bed!
Get to bed girls, so Santa can come!
Santa came!
After breakfast there were more presents...
...including a truly priceless one that Charlie found in the garage.
Then Patrick and Heather hosted us for dinner at their house.
The weather was SO warm. Over 70 degrees. Not really Christmas weather, but I enjoyed in none the less!
Bob the Chicken Whisperer. (There's really nothing more relaxing than watching the chickens!)
We tried a Yankee Swap this year which was pretty fun.
And dinner was delicious...though woe is Audrey, stuck at the kids table long after all the other kids ran off!
The day after Christmas, Heather invited us to her family's arena to ride horses. This is Blue, he had been given an amazing pedicure from some of Shelby's other cousins.
Shelby introduced us to her new pony, Pork Chop.
Audrey had an amzing time riding blue, she did an awesome job too!
Levi did an awesome job riding Pork Chop!
On Monday we met with my UK Architecture friends in Lawrenceburg at Regina's house. It was another freakishly warm day, but I'm not complaining!
The kids are getting so big now!
Lucia let Audrey tested our her new hoverboard and Audrey promptly lost control of it, crashing into a table and breaking a bottle of red wine onto the driveway. I felt bad for her embarrassment, but DAMN that was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Lily deceided to see if she could control the hover board anybetter. Spoiler alert she did NOT.
What would a visit to the country be without a tractor ride?
Regina made us all some art.
One more night in New Haven, hanging with Uncle Charlie.
On Wednesday morning we left New Haven and headed to Lexington, but not before Grandma had a chance to show off her inappropriate workout gear.
In Lexington, Aunt Patti had a few people over so we could see the Fields side of the family (sadly, by this point a lot of my cousins had already been spooked by Omicron) before we took Maddy to her Christmas gift....a UK basketball game! The Cats won against Missouri!
Then bright and early the next day we set off from Aunt Patti's for home, with a bag full of delicious "McPatti" egg sandwiches for the road. (We were so lucky to have those because food choices on the road are extremely limited right now because of the pandemic, and our next two meals were from McDonalds, gross!)
