The Dance Recital That Wasn't

In order to keep her dance parents from feeling like idiots for purchasing hundred(s) of dollars in dance costumes that would never see the light of day...Trudy ( the director of the Winthrop School of Performing Arts) arranged to have a photographer take photos of everyone in their costumes. Another dance mom who was a photographer donated her time so we were allowed one offical portrait, and then we had another ten minutes to use another backdrop that Trudy set up. Also, it just happened to be 100 degrees this day!

The overall theme this year was "Powerful Women". For her hip hop number, she was a racecar driver and the song was "Let's Ride". Audrey REALLY loved taking hip hop this year.

This costume, for her jazz number has been affectionately nick-named "the space waitress" by Bob. This was the number I was most looking forward to, as they where dancing to "Working Nine to Five" (though much to Audrey's annoyance it wasn't the Dolly Parton version). I actually thought the costume was the most ridiculous one she's ever had and was pretty shocked that she wanted to be photgraphed in it!

And for her "official" portrait, Audrey chose her tap costume. In dance world, this costume is meant to signal that they are journalists, but I remain skeptical. The song is "No Bad News" from The Whiz. After having just seen Clueless, this costume mostly reminded me of one of Cher's ensembles! Very cute!

While I'm still really sad that there wasn't a recital in May, at least he have some nice photographs and a little closure for the year. Fingers crossed that next year Audrey gets to have a recital.
