Heat Wave

We just had a stretch of really hot weather. The temperature was either close to or above 100 for three straight days. We nearly melted! So, after living in Winthrop for almost 15 years without getting out our window A/C we finally broke down and and installed it in our bedroom. So, that meant CAMP OUT in mom and dad's room.

On Saturday, we decided to go to IKEA to get the desk we'd been promising Audrey before third grade started and take advantage of their A/C. And it wouldn't be a trip to IKEA without an impulse buy! And this one was a doozy! We bought two arm chairs which necessitated some sketches, to try to figure out how to get them home!

(I have to say, when I see people walking out of IKEA with just a couple of small boxes, I think "What amateurs!")

We made it home with all our bounty, but barely! (And with the door ajar alarm going off ALL THE WAY HOME.)

On Sunday, after getting rid of our (no longer needed) black couch and assembling most of our IKEA purchases we went in search of more free A/C....at the MFA.

We saw Toulouse Lautrec exhibit. (We look oh-so Parisian...)

Afterward, after a super-nutritious dinner on the front porch (and a snuggle with a cat who clearly was in no mood for snuggling!)...

...we went to cool off at the beach.

We are ready for some cooler weather!
