Art Road Trip

We'd kept hearing about an art installation that was going to be going on at various Trustees of Reservations properties around Massachusetts....it was a giant, mirrored hot-air balloon. Since we'd been looking for an excuse to head out  to the Berkshires and see some art museums out there, this seemed like a great opportunity! We got tickets for the viewing at Field Farm in Williamstown.

We we arrived for our time slot, the balloon was already up!

But unfortunately, even though the winds seemed calm to us, the art balloon coudn't handle even THAT amount of wind, so it came down (but watching it deflate was lovely!)

And while we waited for the wind to die down, we went over to chat with the balloon operators and got invited into the cockpit.

Although they never were able to get the balloon in the air again, Field Farm was still a beautiful place to hang out on a sunny summer afternoon.

After a few hours at Field Farm, we went to the Clark Museum

Even just having been to various Museums in Italy, I think the Clark is the most beautiful example of a building that really takes advantage of it's site! I could have spent all day out in the coutryard.

Plus Audrey and I stumbled on a free life drawing class and got to draw from a model for a little while! I had forgotten how relaxing and fun it is to draw from a model!

After the Clark, we checked into our hotel and then went on a hunt for good pizza....and found some AWESOME pizza with a nice view of the river.

The next day we wanted to visit MassMoCa before heading home.

Bob and I used to go to MassMoca at least once a year before kids, but hadn't been back in years and it had changed SO much!

And we couldn't even make it home without ONE more artistic endeavor....our town was participating in a Ten Thousand Flowers community mural project so we went and did our part.

That was an excellent couple days of art loving and a little making too!
