Every year we bemoan the fact that you are getting SO BIG but seriously, you are getting SO BIG! Like, literally almost as tall as me! Sometimes I'll see you lounging on the couch and have to do a double take.
What a year it's been! You graduated from elementary school.
You marched with the band for there first time.
And holy cow, you started Middle School! (Your middle school "style" resembles 90's era grunge, but I definitely have a soft spot for that look!)
Sixth grade has been such a massive change! The expectations have really taken me by surprise. You have so much homework! And also, you have so many things you're interested in doing. STEM club, Drama Crew, Band.....you are one busy girl! You really seem to be thriving!
Of course, your most favorite thing is still playing basketball. You're a huge part of your 6th grade team, playing a least half of every game. Your tenacity makes us so proud!
This year, right before school started, we adopted two kitties and the one you named (Hermione, obviously!) has become your bestie. Every morning, when she hears the Velcro ripping on your night braces, she coming running to snuggle with you and give you kisses. It's pretty much the sweetest thing ever.
As much as I love basketball-playing-Maddy and Gryffindor-hat-wearing-snuggling with kitties-Maddy I feel like you really bloom with the weather gets warm.
You love softball and camping and swimming and sailing. And it was so exciting to see you hop in a kayak and paddle around a pond all by yourself!
(I anticipate that this summer will be extra-special this year as you'll really appreciate having a break from all your schoolwork!)
As always your sense of humor is always your best attribute. Ever since we've introduced you to the TV show Parks and Recreation you LITERALLY say "literally" all the time. And you've seriously become the master of the perfect silly gif to text. (Kids today!) I really should save all these crazy text strings you send me!
You're such a joy, Maddy! We could not love you more!
