Memorial Day Weekend, Part 2 (Canobie Lake!)

Since the kids LOVED the roller coasters so much at Disney World last year, we thought we'd take them up to Canobie Lake as our traditional Memorial Day Weekend summer kick-off.

Bob and I are thinking...."can our stomachs handle this....?" 😬😱

The first ride was the Ice Jet....it looked totally fine. So innocuous...then it spun. And THEN it spun backwards.

In other words, we underestimated it as we both wanted to puke afterward! So from that ride, a strategy was born. Try to make the kids ride as many boring rides as possible!

The carousel was a good ride to reset our stomachs.

Audrey says, "For Narnia!"

Bob and I loved the antique cars. The were nice and boring....

....even with Audrey behind the wheel.

Another good one....a nice scenic train ride. It was about as fast as a....sloth. Perfect!

Pontoon boats...chilly but completely UN-terrifying.

Part of our self-preservation strategy was to divide and conquer. Bob threw me to the wolves with the Pirate Ship ride.

But then again, there was no way in hell I was getting on the "Star Blaster". No way.

Lucky for us they are able to ride some of the most terrifying ones alone.

(my stomach churned just watching from the ground.)

The Rowdy Rooster...Audrey couldn't even convince Maddy to do that one with her!

We also worked hard to find literally any other distraction from the rides....look kids, science!

But they couldn't be held off forever. Especially with our newest member of the "Over 48 inches club".

This is aptly called, "Untamed". 😱

The Corkscrew, which was actually worse than Untamed!

By the end of the day, even the gondola felt TOO thrilling for Bob and I.

But the Ferris wheel is a nice compromise. It's WAY up in the air. But nice and slow!

Right before we left, we discovered DaVinci's Dream which was really fun....basically swings that spin way up high. (Though Bob didn't always behave himself....)

At the end of the day, we knew we should just leave the "Ice Jet" to the kids and watch safely from the sidelines!

It was a great day...but one that Bob and I are in NO HURRY to repeat anytime soon.
