Seven

Happy Seventh Birthday Audrey!

You are such a giant personality in our family, I don’t even know where to begin. I guess your most obvious trait is that this you are amazingly creative, in everything that you do.

Since you were three, you’ve loved taking dance class, but this year it seems to have gotten a little bit more serious, and I think you like that even more. You feel like a cool kid now that you have two SEPARATE classes for tap and ballet. And you LOVED participating in the Christmas show (probably because it combined your two favorite things...performing in public, and hanging out with your friends!)

Your sense of humor is still a huge part of who you are, and it draws people to you like fireflies. You make friends very easily, and you are a very loyal friend. Your buddy Hazel has been your best friend for a while, and it’s very sweet to watch you guys develop a friendship.

And this year, you  requested a birthday party with your friends. You were adamant that it wasn’t fair that you have to share a family party with your sister all the time (have I mentioned how concerned you are with what's "fair"?) so I relented and said that you have five or six friends over. Obviously puppies would be the theme for you and you planned an awesome Adopt-a-Puppy party that everyone enjoyed. You even designed the label for the boxes we put the puppies in for your guests to take home! You are very thorough!

Whenever you are home with free time on your hand you are always making stuff. In fact, I’ve given up on NOT having art supplies everywhere (and glue on every surface!) You made a doghouse for your birthday party, and mailboxes for everyone in the family. Lately you’ve even gotten into my old fabric scraps and you’ve made yourself a doggie costume. The fact that you’ve gone from wanting to have a dog to wanting to be a dog is pretty hilarious and awesome. I’m so proud of your imagination, and your determination to make anything that you want, regardless of what the material is or even if you know how to use it. You are so resourceful!

While I'd say that art is definitely your favorite pastime, you enjoy sports too. You had an awesome time playing soccer last fall and in the British soccer camp you attended last summer (in addition to learning some colorful vocabulary!

And this winter, probably inspired by your big sister, you’ve decided you want to try basketball too. I love to watch you at your basketball clinic. You’re so driven and motivated to make your skills better. Whenever we pick Maddy up at her basketball practice you always grab a ball and show off your dribbling. I think you’re hoping that the fifth grade coaches will see how awesome your dribbling is and scout you 😉!

It's been a great year, watching you develop all sorts of interests and just generally being a hoot. I'm excited to see what kind of hilarity that seven brings.

Happy Birthday Audrey! You give our life color!
