Five!

Happy Fifth Birthday Audrey!

I cannot believe my baby is five! I have to admit, I've been dreading this one a little bit. In just a few months you'll be heading off to kindergarten. Where has the time gone?

It is so much fun to watch you grow and to see the things that you're interested in. You love to draw and paint, I love how creative you are. I would say that it's fun to watch your personality emerge, but that's not quite true...

…your personality is fully formed! In fact, I would call your personality a force of nature. And you definitely have a flair for the dramatic. Recently, you found an old pair of Maddy's glasses, wore them all day, insisted we call you "Little Maddy" and mimicked your big sister. (Let me tell you, that went over really well!)

And you love your dance class. Your performing arts school held an optional Christmas show this year and when I asked you if you wanted to participate you said, "Do I get to be on the big stage?….then YES!" My introverted self just can't comprehend it, but I admire your confidence. I feel like I could learn a lot from you.

Just like Maddy, you are always up for an adventure. Even when your dad and I drag you in your pajamas to look at the high tide after a big winter storm.

You are finishing up your second and final year at the Children's Corner and you're doing so well there. I love all the problem-solving activities you do. You are always coming home talking about how to get cows to walk downstairs or how to build a bridge or a boat. Your teachers tell me you are a great student! I'm so proud of you!

Your sense of humor is probably my very favorite thing about you and it's always on point. For example, at dinner once we made the joke that you are probably 85% composed of guacamole (your favorite food) and your turned right to your dad and said, "Well dad, you are probably 100% coke!" (Did I mention that you and your sister are very judgmental about your dad's soda drinking?)

Speaking of your big sister, even though you guys are so very different you are still great friends. The only problem is that you just want to grow up too fast. Anything that she does or anywhere she goes, you want to do it too. Please slow down!

Even though you are still mildly traumatized by the winter we had last year, you still jumped at the chance to make a snow angel after our first snowfall this winter. I love the way you just throw yourself into everything you do!

It's been such a great year, your energy and humor and enthusiasm are a joy to watch!

Happy Birthday Audrey!
