Birthday Weekend

This year Grandma and Grandfather were able to make it up here for the kids' birthday party. (Fingers crossed they can make it home safely with all the snow storms lined up to make things challenging!)

On Thursday, Audrey generously gave up her room for our guests and moved into our room. Unfortunately, she doesn't travel lightly.

Originally we thought that kids would be over their various illnesses by the weekend and that the weather would be decent for a change…but sadly, we were wrong on both counts! Audrey and Maddy are both still fighting ear infections and the snow storm that was supposed to give us an inch or two became bad enough that school got cancelled! But it was kind of nice to have more time to visit with Grandma and Grandfather. And after our trip to the doctor to get some antibiotics, Maddy felt well enough to get some Scrabble schooling from Grandma.

By Saturday, the roads were clear and people felt well enough to go to Salem for lunch.

And then Bob, Audrey and Grandfather went to the Peabody Essex Museum while Maddy, Grandma and I did some shopping.

Saturday afternoon we had to get home to watch the Wildcats beat Florida and also to make this kids' birthday cakes. This year, they chose Inside Out as the theme. Fondant is very fun to play with!

This year, we had snow before the party and we are getting snow tomorrow but at least we got to have a party this year!

Candles were extinguished.

Presents were opened.

It was a great day!
