Chicago

Bob and I had a great weekend in Chicago. We arrived before noon on Friday so we had almost the whole day and we really took advantage!

After some sushi for lunch we walked through Millenium Park and took the obligatory Bean selfie.

Then we spend the rest of the afternoon at the Art Institute Chicago. The galleries (by Renzo Piano) were really beautiful!

Then more walking. And then some more walking.

On Saturday morning, we went out looking for something light to hold us over until our early lunch with Katie and yet somehow stumbled into this.

I have no regrets.

We met Katie near the river where we happened to be in the right place at the right time to watch all the drawbridges open up to let some sailboats pass through.

Then we walked around Lake Michigan with Katie.

Saturday evening we went to Christian and Thanh's wedding.

I had my doubts that Christian could "wing it" through his wedding planning (this is the guy who says he'll bring dinner to your house but will show up bearing only a jar of beets!), but it was beautiful and lots of fun. There should be food trucks at every wedding!

You could tell the reception was about to get crazy when the grooms changed into their lederhosen.

Sunday, we did a little more walking before heading back to the airport.

Goodbye Chicago. It was fun!
