Pumpkin Patch Sunday

This Sunday, we decided to take a little road trip and do some leaf peeping and some pumpkin picking. But first, Maddy had her swim lessons. Which means that Bob gets to entertain Audrey by letting her run in different settings, all over MIT's campus. At least on the running track, her speed seemed a little more appropriate than some of the other places she was running.

And afterwards, she was very excited to show Maddy the sculpture she found.

After that we hit the road, stopping for lunch at a little local place that is known for their corn-on-the-cob...

...and their delicious chocolate milk.

Next stop, Parlee Farms in Tynesboro Massachusetts. Featuring (this weekend only!) free hay rides!

The farm was very beautiful.

Then it was on to the pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkins and start the annual Carroll household pumpkin carving contest. Teams have been chosen. Stay tuned to see the final designs, next weekend! There was a little bit of sticker shock at the end, but hey...we got a "free" hay ride!

After our official business was completed, it was on to the fun stuff. There were lots of animals to see and a tractor training area. This turned out to be very fun for the kids. The tractors were motorized so the kids got to see what it was like to crash into each other without our insurance premiums going up. They had a blast!

Maddy took an early lead in the race and never fell behind.

Finally, we had to taste test the cider donuts at Parlee Farms. There was a lot of debate, but I think the consensus was that Parlee Farm's donuts are actually a little tastier than those at Cider Hill. I hate to be disloyal to a place we've been going to for years, but these donuts were very fluffy!

It was a perfect fall day. I think we are almost ready for Halloween now!
