It was an unseasonably warm night, and we were looking forward to watching the sunset over Boston. But before the sun even set, tragedy struck. Someone decided to see if her new friend "Boney" (the dog) could swim in the ocean. And then that same someone sat and watched helpless and weeping while "Boney" drifted away.

Others in our party were less concerned about Boney's survival and just enjoyed watching the drama unfold.

Even with all the tears, the sunset was pretty spectacular.

And then, what happened next could only be described as a miracle. The current dropped Boney right onto the beach, just down a bit from where we were eating, and then the tide went out and left Boney right there on the sand. Bob volunteered to retrieve Boney only to discover he had made a friend....he had a periwinkle attached to his fur.

Who knows, maybe the periwinkle even pulled Boney to safety onto the beach. We'll never know.
