April Vacation

Maddy's school vacation was this week. We didn't have any big plans, but I did load the front of the week with some awesomely fun events. Like doctors appointments and Audrey's very first check up at the dentist.

(She did awesome! Maddy was a great role model.)

But on Thursday and Friday we actually did have some fun outings. On Thursday, we visited the Museum of Fine Arts with Maddy's friend Amaia.

I was so impressed at how well behaved all the kids were. No one touched anything! And the security guards only had to tail us briefly in the contemporary art gallery.

The museum offered lots of fun activities for the kids to do in the galleries. This "stained glass" activity was a big hit with both of them.

After we exhausted ourselves, we needed to refuel before attempting to exit the labyrinthine museum (next time I'll leave breadcrumbs!) and brave the commute home on the subway, at rush hour!

On Friday, we went to the zoo, which I'd been promising all week. I'll admit, when I saw the mob scene in the parking lot it was really hard remember why I'd thought the going to the zoo on the nicest day of vacation week would be a good idea. But we persevered, and I'm glad we did.

First up, Bird World.

Then we fed the Budgies (which were way more aggressive than I remember!)

Audrey started a couple new trends: the very stylish monkey belt, and the live bird wrist corsage.

After a couple hours and a ride on the carousel we were exhausted!

Maddy can go back to school now to get some rest!
