On Saturday we had some friends over for a trip to the beach and a cookout. Being there on a very overcast day was actually kind of nice. No one was around and we had the beach and the tidal pool all to ourselves.
The tidal pool was filled with thousands of little hermit crabs. Maddy toyed with the idea of using one to replace her missing front tooth.
Everyone had a great time...and nobody got a sunburn!
On Sunday, Bob and I were supposed to take our kayak tour on Cape Cod. That would be the one that had to be rescheduled due to the bad weather on Memorial Day weekend. Obviously we are doomed to never kayak on the Cape, because we got canceled again due to lightning.
Oh well. It is a beautiful place to kayak. We'll look forward to trying again next summer.
But, Bob had been thwarted one too many times this summer so on Monday he was determined to get his kayak out at our beach. He promised Maddy she could have a ride as well.
Maddy actually fit perfectly in the storage hold and they kayaked a mile or so down the beach and back.
Very sad to see the end of summer. It feels like it was way too short this year. School starts on Friday!
