Three Years Old!

Happy Birthday Maddy!

Where did the year go? This time last year, you'd just started walking. Now, you walk, talk, run and jump. You even have a sense of humor. Last weekend in the airport terminal in Memphis you took a head-first spill as you were running around. Everyone around us held their breath wondering if you were ok, and you looked up and yelled, "Safe!" much to everyone's amusement. I love the funny little person you've become.

You've developed a real love for stuffed animals. After two and a half years of humoring your dad and I by sleeping with the Grover we stuck in your bed, you've become very particular about who keeps you company at night. Now when you sleep, Grover HAS to be there as well as raccoon, piggy and Horton. And raccoon has to be facing a certain way. And piggy has to be sitting up. And swaddled in a blanket. I'm feeling a little silly for giving into your demands but I don't really mind. However, if you ask for Elmo to come to bed now too, we're going to have to evict someone else to make room!

Your number one favorite food is peanut butter balls and you've become quite sneaky about obtaining them.

I feel like we learned a lot about the person you're becoming over the past month. I didn't really know what to expect when we went to Alabama. I didn't honestly think you'd be working six hours straight. But that's exactly what you did. You were so focused and so determined. You made us very proud. It took a lot of effort and support to make the trip to Birmingham, but with your hard work, I feel like you got maximum possible benefit. Now, you're so much more confident about what your right hand can do, it's amazing.

Happy Birthday Maddy! We can't wait to see what next year is going to be like with you!
