But, we couldn't spend too much time celebrating...we had a Derby party to throw! I feel like I really knocked it out of the park this year with the Derby hats. I had the good fortune to find a paper mache unicorn at Target who's horn had fallen off....and inspiration struck!
Maddy was impressed (or jealous, it was unclear to me!)...
But she decided that she was more of a fedora girl anyway.
Our Derby party was a big success, no one fell off the balcony and only one tooth was lost in the course of the night.
And I was excited to have a birthday cake for the first time in years! (Thanks, Jill!)
On Sunday, soccer was cancelled (due to all the rain earlier in the week) so we had a completely free Sunday. We decided to go to Faneuil Hall for lunch and got a outdoor seat at Wagamama that included a great view of the street entertainment, Kilted Colin.
He is a kilted unicycle riding, bagpipe playing, knife juggling comedian.
After lunch, we took off walking towards the swan boats but were quickly waylaid when we saw the Cookie Monstah food truck parked in the Boston Common.
Eventually we made it to the swan boats and had a nice ride.
It was a great day and an awesome birthday weekend!
